SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, plans to begin construction of the 200 MW Eiffel solar project in Lamar County, Texas in the first half of 2022. The project will begin to provide energy for utility energy transmission in January 2024.

"SB Energy focuses on accelerating the global energy transition, starting with innovative projects such as Eiffel Solar and excellent partners such as Energy Transfer. Eiffel Resources is a key project to meet the rapidly growing demand for reliable and clean energy," SB Energy's joint chief executive Officer Rich Hossfeld said.

Energy Transfer signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with San Francisco-based SB Energy to purchase 120 MW of electricity from Eiffel Solar.

"We are very pleased to announce the signing of this PPA with SB Energy," said Tom Mason, head of the Energy Transfer Alternative Energy Group. "This is our second important agreement to purchase low-cost solar energy to help us meet the ERCOT load requirements for our operations throughout Texas. The first is the Permian Basin Maplewood 2 solar that went online earlier this year Power plant."
