The price per minute of Tesla Supercharger gets a gratifying update

Tesla has made some changes to the per-minute pricing of the Supercharger Network. With the new update, drivers who charge per minute will now charge based on four levels, with each level corresponding to the speed of the charger.

Tesla pointed out in its Supercharger Support page that whenever possible, car owners using fast charging networks will charge per kilowatt-hour. However, in other areas, owners charge by the minute. Previously, the company’s per-minute rate was only divided into two levels. The first level corresponds to chargers charged at 60 kilowatts and below, and the second level applies to chargers that can charge at 61 kilowatts and above.

With the updated turbocharger rates, these levels have been expanded. This time, four layers were used. The Tier 1 rate is the lowest rate per minute and is applicable to chargers that can charge 60 kW or less. Tier 2 rates apply to gears that can charge from 61 kW to 100 kW, while Tier 3 rates apply to chargers that can charge from 101 kW to 180 kW, such as Tesla’s improved Supercharger V2 gear.

Tesla superchargers that can charge more than 180 kilowatts use Tier 4 rates, which are the most expensive. However, these chargers provide the fastest charging speed, and on compatible vehicles, a single charge can be completed in 30 minutes. Tesla's updated supercharger rates may be appreciated by car owners. After all, under the previous system, if drivers charge at 61 kW or 250 kW, they will be charged the same fee.

Tesla's updated Supercharger pricing seems to be very active in the United States at present, but the system may be extended to other regions in the near future. Overall, Tesla's update of its Supercharger pricing may be part of its preparation for the future, especially when the company opens up its fast charging network to non-Tesla vehicles.

Tesla is currently testing an open supercharger pilot project at 10 charging stations in the Netherlands. The plan seems to be popular, with non-Tesla owners taking advantage of the convenience and reliability of the supercharger network. As the company pointed out in its plan announcement, if the pilot is successful, the open supercharging system can be extended to other regions.
