Great Wall ORA R1 is an electric car priced at only AUD 13,000-techAU

The biggest complaint I hear about electric vehicles is cost. This is a fair criticism, because only one couple in Australia earns less than $50,000.

ORA R1 is Great Wall Motor's first product and the cheapest all-electric car, priced at only 7,000 pounds, or about 13,000 Australian dollars.

Now, if ORA R1 arrives in Australia, it will attract transportation costs, import duties, and of course a 10% goods and services tax. This means that the final price may be close to $20,000.

For this price, this car actually still represents a fairly overall package, even if it looks familiar.

Full Charged recently had the opportunity to try this car, and Elliot Richards actually spoke highly of it.

For the price, you obviously did not get amazing performance, nor did you make a futuristic redesign of the interior, on the contrary, it shows what happens when you focus on price and range.

Including a 33kW battery, it can travel about 350 kilometers (NEDC). As a small city car, this is actually very practical, allowing you to get from A to B. It takes about 40 minutes to charge from 0-80%.

No matter how you look at the design, the value for money here is impressive. If Great Wall Motors ever brought the ORA R1 to Australia, I think it would definitely make some people consider EVs for their next car.

The big problem with this car is that its top speed is about 100 km/h... which is too slow. If it reaches the peak at about 130 km/h, then there is no problem.
