Indian households get 36.72 kW photovoltaic system and 540 W panels – pv magazine China

Maxwatt Solar built a photovoltaic system, which is said to be the largest residential grid-connected residential solar installation in India, with 540 Wp modules. It uses 68 JA Solar 540 Wp half-cell monocrystalline PERC modules and a 27 kW Fronius inverter.

Indian EPC installer Maxwatt Solar deployed a 36.72 kWp rooftop solar system for a homeowner in Kerala, which is equipped with 540 Wp modules. It claims that the project is India's largest grid-connected residential solar system. It is located in Anchukallumoodu, Kollam District, Kerala.

The installation uses 68 JA Solar 540 Wp half-cell monocrystalline PERC modules, provided by Redington Solar, one of the largest solar photovoltaic distribution companies in India. It also has a three-phase 27 kW Fronius inverter (model ECO 27.0-3-S). The system is a grid-connected solar photovoltaic system without any backup batteries. 

"It is designed to not run any specific house load, but sufficient to run the house’s central air-conditioning unit. Therefore, in short, we can say that regardless of the connected load, the solar system can run any connected load. The house load, and the power generation is enough to offset the customer's monthly electricity bill," said Prabi Prasad, technical director at Maxwatt Solar.

Prasad claims that 1 kWp can easily generate four units of electrical energy (kWh) per day.

“So 36.72 kWp can produce 146.88 kWh per day, but based on our experience with previous systems, you can consider 4.5 kWh instead of 4 kWh. Then it will be 165.24 kWh per day, or 60,312.60 kWh per year,” he said.

Prasad pointed out that based on the customer's monthly electricity bill, their home consumes 40 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day.

“As a result, the solar system will generate 165.24 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, which will be four times its daily demand,” he said. "In this case, customers will be able to provide an additional 120 kWh/day to the Kerala Electricity Commission, which is a win-win situation for both parties."

For smaller systems with high-quality components, 60-65000 is correct. For larger systems, it can even be as low as 37-38000 per kilowatt...-Rizwan, MSS Renewtech, Mumbai.

It seems that we need another method to measure systems with more photovoltaic capacity than inverters. It seems wrong to use a 27KW inverter to calm 37KWp. It is really 27kwp.

Sar devices are usually expressed in terms of installed DC side capacity. So it is not wrong, it is correct. And the inverter does have overload capacity.

It is not that good to produce 4.5 kW per 1 kW of PV.

But for such a huge array, I think it's okay to be sloppy.

Mine can get 6.4. I am at 38° north latitude.

Kerala is a coastal area. So the moisture content in the air is very high. So 4.5 is good. There are many factors that determine the output of a solar power system. Please read more about it.

This is a great project. But still not everyone has the problem of installation cost like this project.

I hope you mentioned some of the installation systems they use...Thank God for at least one photo...I have never seen anyone directly install it on a "normal" house like that... ..
