Solar energy developer R. Power Group is expanding its business in Poland by acquiring Menlo Electric, a Polish photovoltaic equipment wholesaler.

According to the R.Power media statement, Menlo Electric sells products in 10 EU countries/regions and has established cooperative relationships with "top manufacturers such as Jinko, Ruisen, SolarEdge, Sungrow, FoxESS, BAKS".

R.Power said that the acquisition provides an excellent platform for R.Power to expand its wholesale business. The combined group hopes to purchase more than 1GW of components next year.

Przemek Pieta, CEO of R.Power, stated that the wholesale market is “often ignored by investors, developers and installers”, adding that “in a world of unstable prices and supply disruptions, wholesalers will be involved in managing other industries. These risk aspects of the participants play an important role.”

Last month, R. Power announced a bidding plan for photovoltaic modules, structures and other components worth nearly 200 million euros (231 million U.S. dollars) to seek to build its solar pipelines in Poland.

After that, it entered the Romanian solar market through a partnership with an unnamed renewable energy company, and the two companies will develop a solar product portfolio totaling 100 megawatts.

R. Power did not disclose the value of the acquisition.

Solar Media, the publisher of PV Tech, will host the Large-Scale Solar: Central and Eastern Europe Conference in Warsaw, Poland from November 16 to 17, 2021. The event will bring together developers, EPC and other solar energy stakeholders in Central and Eastern Europe. More information, including how to participate, can be read here.
