The 20MW/80MWh grid-connected project owned and operated by Hecate Energy is constructed by Mitsubishi Electric Power. It uses LFP batteries that can accumulate energy for 4 hours and is part of a key project to integrate renewable energy into the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) grid. Its role is to verify distributed energy (DER) capacity assumptions, study grid requirements, and develop technical expertise for large-scale DER implementation. This multi-year study will determine whether clean distributed energy can offset the growing power demand in central Orange County.

Nohra Nasr, Vice President and General Manager of Ingeteam Inc. Solar Photovoltaics and BESS, said: “We are very pleased to work with Hecate Energy and Mitsubishi Power in this milestone project. They have extensive experience in utility-scale energy storage projects, so we I am very pleased to work with them and, with our long-term experience in the field of power electronics, support California's efforts to promote clean energy technologies."

For this project, Ingeteam provided 20 Ingecon Sun Storage 1245TL U B480 inverters. These inverters use 1,500Vdc technology and will develop grid support functions such as frequency regulation.
