FIMER and PV Tech are co-hosting a webinar to discuss the role of inverters in providing high availability and low LCOE for the new era of utility-scale solar energy. The free webinar will be held on October 20, 2021 at 15:00 Central European Time / 14:00 British Summer Time / 09:00 US Eastern Time. To register, click here.

FIMER has launched two new platforms for the utility-scale solar field, namely the PVS-350-TL string inverter for decentralized applications and the PVS-260/PVS-300 modular conversion designed for centralized applications solution.

Although string inverters are becoming more and more popular in utility projects, more traditional central architectures are still widespread and currently account for nearly 40% of the market. There is a need for a solution that can meet the needs of all utility projects, including future storage needs.

FIMER's new platform-high-power multi-MPPT inverter, PVS-350-TL and PVS-260/PVS-300 modular conversion platform-designed to meet the needs of decentralized and centralized applications, covering 100% of utility customers need.

PVS-350-TL is the most powerful and power-intensive multi-MPPT string inverter in the solar industry. It is optimized for distributed photovoltaic system architecture with a maximum efficiency ɳMAX> 99% to ensure the highest energy output . Compared with other similar products, it also has the smallest footprint and significantly reduces the risk of downtime that may occur to the central inverter.

For centralized system architecture, PVS-260/PVS-300 provides a fully modular solution designed with a single MPPT string platform. It can easily replace the central inverter in a more traditional design, significantly improving performance and reducing BoP costs. This optimizes the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), which reduces the LCOE of the modular conversion architecture by 2.3% compared to the central solution. It also has higher system availability, higher than 99.9%, while the highest availability of the central solution is 99.5%.

PVS-350-TL provides a record high AC capacity and a DC front end optimized for the latest photovoltaic modules. With a record high capacity and a power-to-weight ratio of more than 3kW/kg, it can provide up to 350kVA at 800Vac. It reduces the electrical balance of logistics and installation costs as well as the system cost of free-field utility-scale ground-mounted photovoltaic installations. MV stations with a capacity of up to 15% can be combined with PVS-350-TL to increase the capacity of a single power block and reduce the total number of stations per MWac installed power. The inverter is equipped with 12 MPPTs, each rated at 45A Impp and 60A Isc, and is specifically optimized for connecting two strings of the latest ultra-high power photovoltaic modules based on M10 (182x182mm) and G12 (210x210mm) batteries.

The DC/AC ratio can be optimized to take full advantage of the advantages of these new module formats, while providing the maximum system yield (ηMAX> 99%). Compared with the traditional 166mm module, it can further save the cost of the tracker. Installation is quick and easy, and the existing photovoltaic module installation system can be used to install inverters.

The PVS-260/PVS-300 modular conversion platform has a large capacity, combined with an ultra-compact design of a single MPPT power block, enabling system designers to maintain a "centralized" system architecture when needed. All power electronic equipment is also concentrated near other key AC power equipment to simplify control and routine maintenance.

By combining power modules in pre-assembled and pre-tested medium voltage stations in the factory, the new platform can compete with the multi-megawatt-scale station designs of the latest central inverters, enabling system designers to apply the modular architecture to systems of any size .
