September 29 (now renewable energy)-The Spanish utility company today stated that the final wind turbine has been installed in Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE)'s first wind-solar hybrid project, 317 MW in South Australia The Port Augusta complex.

The Port Augusta project, costing 500 million Australian dollars (362 million US dollars / 310 million euros), will pair 210 MW of wind power capacity with 107 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity and is expected to go live in the next few months.

The wind module consists of 50 wind turbines, each 4.2 MW, installed by Vestas Wind Power Systems A/S (CPH:VWS). The first turbine was built in April.

The solar panels will consist of approximately 250,000 panels provided by Longi. Spanish infrastructure company Elecnor SA (BME:ENO) is responsible for the construction of the plant's substation and transmission lines.

Iberdrola said it already operates 800 MW of renewable energy capacity in Australia, with 453 MW under construction and more than 1,000 MW under development.
