The Fayette County Commissioners Court received their latest update on a massive solar power site that is being built near Muldoon.

The commissioners heard a presentation from representatives of the 7V Solar Ranch, who are planning to build a 300-megawatt solar power installation on 1,600 acres of land. That is up from the 200-megawatts on 1,500 acres that was originally planned.

The project has been in the works for nearly three years now. Officials with the construction company, Grupo Ortiz, said that tree clearing has already begun, and that they plan to also build fences around the project areas.

Naturgy, who is the project owner, said that their goal is for 600,000 individual solar modules.  The framework of which is scheduled to be installed sometime this summer.

Project representatives said that there would be significant road traffic, while they transport all the necessary equipment to the construction area.

Precinct Three Commissioner Harvey Berckenhoff told them that they have several bridge replacements coming up near where the 7V Ranch is located.

Naturgy said agreed to send a logistics official to coordinate with the county on  routing their vehicles.

If everything stays on schedule, they plan to have the transformers and inverters installed by early 2023.  Estimated completion for the project is expected to occur in November 2023.
